NBA Makes Adjustments to COVID Protocol as More Games Get Postponed

Welcome to the Basketball Hangover. Unfortunately, COVID has continue to ravage the country… and the NBA is no exception.

The NBA insists on moving forward with the season.

What are we even doing here?

So one game from Monday got postponed. A Tuesday game is getting rescheduled (Celtics/Bulls) and then a Wednesday game is also getting that same decision (Magic/Celtics). All in all, that would be three Celtics games getting postponed because they don’t have enough players to play due to COVID and contract tracing.

The NBA has also decided to move forward with the season with all new rules to help curb the virus. Basically, the players will be quarantining themselves until game time and distancing, masks, and time spent together will be enforced for the next couple of weeks.

I don’t know. Why can’t we just push pause on the season for the next couple of weeks until things settle down? To a lot, it’s not exactly a black-and-white issue with money and business involved. But when lives are on the line (not just players but staff and whoever else is involved in the logistics of an NBA game), I feel it’s a no-brainer to just postpone everything until then.

And yes, the bubble issue has come up time and again. Why not go back to that? Again, it’s not so easy. Players and staff will have to be in one place for months and it can drive people crazy (I mean, personally, “I” would have no problem with it but everyone is not me). It wasn’t all heavenly for all the players and staff that worked the Disneyworld bubble. It can be very difficult to begin with.

I had gone a little soft on my stance in terms of doing sports during a pandemic because we’ve all seen it done. Still, there is a ton of risk involved and the pandemic has been worse than ever. If it was up to me, professional sports shouldn’t be happening right now. But like I said before, it’s not very clear-cut on what can be done because there are so many moving parts involved.

No bullet passes tonight. But here’s your scoreboard and play.

Watch This Play

It baffles me that this was not in the NBA Top 10 plays. But De’Aaron Fox leaves Domantas Sabonis behind and gives Malcolm Brogdon a close-up of his show.

That put the Pacers away. Woof.

Anyway, please be careful, NBA.

Everyone, please take care of yourselves during this pandemic. And that goes for everyone involved with the NBA as well.
