2020 NBA Finals Hangover (Game 1): Lakers Make a Statement Against Heat

Welcome to the Basketball Hangover. The NBA Finals is here!

The Lakers really showed the Heat what’s up in Game 1.

I don’t have a lot to say for this one. After the Miami Heat led, 25-12, the Lakers came back and kicked the ish out of the Heat.

We waited for the Lakers to start missing from three but they started doing that when the game didn’t matter. L.A. led by as many as 32 points. The Heat did cut the deficit down to 12 and it might give them an opening for Game 2. But Miami got so beat up that they’re likely not going to be at full strength for the rest of the series. More on that later.

Anthony Davis couldn’t be stopped; he had 34. LeBron James went for a near trip-dub at 25-13-9. At one point, the Lakers were on a 75-30 run!

The good news for the Heat? That was just only one game. But there was plenty of bad news for Miami outside of that supposed silver lining.

Bullet Passes

I feel really bad for Goran Dragic. He has a plantar tear on his left foot and he may not return in the series. He played so well and worked so hard to get to this point and he might barely get a taste of the NBA Finals. There’s a huge chance he might never return to this point. Awful.

Bam Adebayo has a bum shoulder and he’ll be out for Game 2. So now the Heat will go on without the Dragon and Bam. That’s 2/5 of their starting line-up.

The Heat might have to really scrap with the Lakers. I’m not kidding. Make it sort of like a Jordan Rules thing. Get real physical. Then the winner would only be by TKO.

It only took three days but Doc Rivers is back as a coach. He will now coach the Philadelphia 76ers. We’ll see how he handles the mismatched roster of the Sixers.

Andre Iguodala follows the miss with a powerful slam.

I’m not too confident about Game 2 being close but we’ll see how it goes. Take care, everyone.
