Stupid Power Rankings (Bubble Week 4)

People LOVE Power Rankings in sports. It’s pretty stupid. So, of course, I have MY Stupid Power Rankings. I take 10 things from the NBA and WNBA (or not) in the past week and rank them accordingly. You don’t like them? Make your own rankings!

All right. Let’s check out Bubble and Wubble happenings in the past week!

1) The Legend of Luka

We all saw what he did on Sunday. 43 points. 17 boards. 13 dimes. And the game-winner against the Clippers. He did all of that with a hurt ankle. We’re watching all of this happen in front of us, man.

2) Donovan vs. Jamal

Not only did they open the playoffs with a crazy crazy game (Donovan Mitchell scored 57 while Jamal Murray had 20 of his 36 in the 4th quarter) but they were amazing in Game 4 when both of them scored 50 points (Mitchell actually had 51). However, it’s equally astonishing that Utah actually leads the series, 3-1.

3) Sky Plays It Perfectly

Look at this amazing play by the Chicago Sky. Look at the screen work by both Azura Stevens and Stefanie Dolson. Azura made the cut just as A’ja Wilson tried to go after Courtney Vandersloot. Then Dolson set a JARRING screen to take out Wilson. And then Sloot made the easy pass to the cutting Stevens. Excellent. Just excellent.

4) Everyone Loves Boban

Boban Marjanovic is just the best. And when he did the YOU RANG bit to Shaquille O’Neal? That was fantastic. Shaq never looked so happy.

5) 8th Seeds Causing Chaos

On Tuesday, the Orlando Magic baffled the Milwaukee Bucks with their defensive intensity. The Magic, just like last year, surprised their playoff opponents with a win. Then the other #1 seed, the Los Angeles Lakers, couldn’t get it going offensively late. Dame Time happened and Portland pulled it out.

Now the Magic and the Blazers haven’t won games since. PLEASE GIVE US MORE CHAOS.

6) Diana Taurasi is the GOAT

Imagine talking to Diana Taurasi like that! And you end up staying in the same hotel? Sheesh.

Also, Diana scored 34 on Kobe Bryant’s birthday on Sunday. She seriously is the GOAT.

7) Wolves Won The Lottery

That’s great! Last time the Wolves had #1, they picked Karl-Anthony Towns in 2015. Funny enough, the #2 pick of that draft was D’Angelo Russell (picked by the Lakers). He’s now at the Wolves and he represented them during the lottery.

Anyway, hope Minnesota doesn’t mess this up. There’s no consensus #1 pick this year.

8) Seattle Storm Look Vulnerable

After they blasted the New York Liberty by 41, they slipped and lost two straight. They got upset by the Indiana Fever and then they lost a big game to Las Vegas. They’re going to be okay since Sue Bird hasn’t played the last few games. And Breanna Stewart is still ballin’.

9) Playoff P

10 for 47 (.213) the last three playoff games. First of all, it’s so stupid of PG to give himself the nickname of Playoff P. It hasn’t worked out since then. Never give yourself a nickname like that.

10) Might Need to Reprocess

The Philadelphia 76ers were the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. It’s really super disappointing considering they looked like a top contender going into the season. Ben Simmons didn’t play, sure, but they were still a talented team without him. Too bad, the talent couldn’t play together.

Tobias Harris got hurt in Game 4. Al Horford never found a place. Brett Brown is likely not coming back. And now people are talking about separating Joel Embiid and Simmons. I think it can work. But I’m not part of this process.

Or are they REPROCESSING?! HMMMM.
