Stupid Power Rankings (Week 4 of the 2019-20 NBA Season)

People LOVE Power Rankings in their sports. Of course, we have one of our own but it’s not your usual rankings where we put them from best to worst team during the week. Every Monday, we look at 10 things in the NBA (well, not just the NBA) and rank them in order how much we liked each thing. Don’t agree with them? You can always make your OWN Power Rankings.

We look into the happenings of Week 4 of the NBA regular season. Let’s check it out.

1) James Harden Has Lit Up the Scoreboard

I’m not sure how his teammates feel about this. Maybe they’re enjoying the show. Maybe they feel like they’re not getting enough credit.

But the Rockets went 4-0 as Harden poured in 44.8 PPG. Yes. FORTY-FOUR POINT EIGHT POINTS PER GAME in four games. If you don’t think that’s amazing, I’m just going to assume you hate puppies.

2) The Return of PG-13

Not to be outdone, Paul George scored 70 points in two games. That’s impressive by itself… but he did it in games of 24 and 20 minutes!

He gets penalized for losing their first game, though. Against the undermanned New Orleans Pelicans of all teams.

3) Austin Rivers Helps His Dad Get Ejected

I think we can all relate to Austin Rivers on this one. While Doc Rivers complained to the officials, son Austin kept egging the refs to tee up his dad. Not only did they give Doc a technical but they ejected him. That’s AWESOME. Hell, I know all of us would do this to our dad if given the chance.

I also love that Doc said that Austin should do that. Competitive fire!

3A) Hello, Disney+

Seriously, I get to relive all the old Disney cartoons, movies, etc. Of course, being an 80s/90s kid, I absolutely started with the Disney Afternoon toons like Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing Duck.

Also, all them Marvel and Star Wars movies are there. As well as a few rom-coms like 10 Things I Hate About You and a few Disney Channel favorites like Lizzie McGuire.

We could all stay home forever watching Disney.

4) Three-Pointers By The Buzz

Malik Monk did it to Detroit on Friday. And then the next day, Devonte’ Graham did it to New York.

The difference between 6-7 and 4-9. It might be the difference for a potential playoff spot later on!

5) These Leaked Mavs City Ed. Jerseys

I like them. You don’t? You’re probably not my friend.

6) Trae Young Going 5-Hole

He did this two games in a row, too! First, he did it to Will Barton. And then he did it to Ricky Rubio.

7) Tony Parker Retirement Ceremony

This was expected. He’s a Spurs legend. He’s part of the team’s big three. He won four championships. He won an NBA Finals MVP award. I said everything here.

I do wish he never spent that 2018-19 season with another team, though…

8) Melo’s Final Chance?

So I think we’re all rooting for Carmelo Anthony to do well in Portland but his weaknesses are all too glaring. Yeah, he can score in the in-between game. He can shoot the three. He can still fill it up.

It’s just a matter of letting his OPPONENT fill it up. This was the reason why he didn’t last too long in Oklahoma City and Houston. And he’s no spring chicken; 35 is ancient for an NBA player. Also, the Blazers need more DEFENSE.

We hope it all works out; both parties have a need. We’re not sure if they need each other, though.

9) Blake Griffin Has Returned But…

He’s done okay. He didn’t shoot well against Charlotte but his two-game averages of 19-5-6 aren’t bad.

It’s just that the Pistons are 0-3 since he returned (0-2 in the games he’s played in). Whoops.

10) My Favorite Tristan Thompson Sequence

WHY PASS IT TO A POINT GUARD WHEN YOU CAN HANDLE THIS ALL BY YOURSELF?! WHY NOT PASS IT TO SOMEONE THAT CAN SHOOT THE THREE WHEN YOU CAN FLING A 40-FOOTER WITH FOUR SECONDS LEFT ON THE SHOT CLOCK?!

This sequence is so hilarious, man.
