We all know DeAndre Ayton. Promising big man in what is now a perimeter game. Still, the guy averaged 16.3 points and 10.3 boards a game on the way to claiming a spot on the All-Rookie team. While the Phoenix Suns haven’t been great in nearly a decade, the 2018 first overall pick represented a step in the right direction.
And then BOOM. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN drops a patented bomb that Ayton is suspended a whopping 25 games for testing positive for a diuretic (which is used to mask steroids). As if the Phoenix Suns has had enough problems the last few years, right?
Ayton has made a statement about this:
At the very least, the Suns and their fans want to see his penalty get lessened (“unintentional ingestion” is the case to get a lighter punishment). It’s really too bad because the Suns got off to a GREAT start by blowing out the Sacramento Kings at their home opener. Ayton went for 18 and 11 on that game. If the suspension doesn’t get affected, Ayton could be back by December 17 when they face the powerhouse Clippers.
Hopefully, this works out for everyone involved. If it gets reduced, fantastic! If it doesn’t, try not to get caught if you’re trying to cheat. Kidding, kidding. I honestly do hope Ayton’s suspension gets shortened.
