Dave Joerger Gets Ousted By Memphis, Lands With Sacramento

I was going to add this to the coaching carousel list but this happened way too fast.

On Saturday, the Memphis Grizzlies fired Dave Joerger. Joerger was mentioned to be unhappy about the roster moves management made. Still, the coach made the best out of it and actually had an emotional press conference after his team was ousted by the San Antonio Spurs.

But the Sacramento Kings moved fast and came to an agreement with Joerger just today, according to the Vertical‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.

I only look at this as the right choice if he gets along with DeMarcus Cousins. Because that’s all it really comes down to. Joerger is one of the bright young coaches in the game and, in a perfect world, he can take this currently structured team to the postseason. Boogie has pretty much only gotten along with one coach in his six years in Sactown. Let’s just hope Joerger and Cousins become chummy and let’s hope that the Kings front office doesn’t meddle too much. What they need now is stability. This will be the Kings’ NINTH head coach in a decade.

Dave Joerger has a 147-99 (.598) record as a coach. He helped the Grizzlies reach the conference semifinals in 2014-15 before they lost to the eventual champs Golden State Warriors in six games.

As for Memphis? They’re supposedly targetting recently ousted Pacers coach Frank Vogel. The carousel continues.
