2016 Playoff Hangover (Day 20): Raptors, Heat Go To Overtime Again

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

#3 MIAMI HEAT 92 @ #2 TORONTO RAPTORS 96 (OT)
EAST Semifinals – Game 2 – Series is TIED, 1-1

This game was not pretty. The Heat gave the ball to the Raptors like it was Christmas in the first quarter. That helped give the Raptors a 10-point lead to end the first. Also, the Raptors backcourt, who have shot horribly in the playoffs, made shots that gave them enough confidence that they can do anything. Like outdance Michael Jackson.

But they regressed to their playoff means after the first. Still, the other Raptors continued to step up in the backcourt’s milk carton absence. DeMarre Carroll kept Toronto ahead in the third quarter before the Heat made their surge to take the lead.

The Heat led, 80-74, before the dinosaurs made their own push. Toronto scored 10 straight points (six by Jonas Valanciunas) to take a four-point lead late. Dwyane Wade countered with a three-pointer before Kyle Lowry made a long two to bring the lead back up to three. The lead didn’t last long, though, as Goran Dragic nailed a wide open three with 10.5 seconds left. Lowry missed a horrible three afterwards and the game would go to OT again.

It was all Raptors from here. They scored the first six points and held Miami scoreless for all but the last 23 seconds of overtime. The Heat played the foul game afterwards but the Raptors would hold on to tie the series.

If we can only get the Raptors backcourt to shoot better and the Heat to stop turning the ball over, this series might be more aesthetically-pleasing than Anna Kendrick.
