2016 Playoff Hangover (Day 15): Spurs Smash Thunder Right from the Start

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

We were waiting for this but…

#3 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 92 @ #2 SAN ANTONIO SPURS 124
WEST Semifinals – Game 1 – SPURS lead series, 1-0

It wasn’t even close. The Spurs scored the first eight points of the game and the Thunder turned into the Drizzle in seemingly minutes. San Antonio scored 43 points in the first quarter and held the Thunder to 20. The lead grew and grew and it didn’t even need the help of Viagra. But it’d be nice if the Thunder can defend the pick and roll.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard went 28 for 36 combined. It was ridiculous. And the Spurs did it all with an attitude of the Geek Squad.

It’s only the first game but the Thunder looked extremely baffled. One game can change the complexion of the series so, hopefully, OKC can get that game very, very soon. Otherwise, we might as well give the Spurs a bye to the Western Conference Finals.

And I took off my pants for this?!

BEHIND THE LINES
LaMarcus Aldridge (SA): 38 pts, 6 rebs.
Kawhi Leonard (SA): 25 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts.
Serge Ibaka (OKC): 19 pts.

This set the tone for the rest of the game… and MAYBE the series? It just feels that way. The first two points were from Kawhi Leonard’s obliteration.
