Over the weekend, this is what we all learned about Joakim Noah‘s shoulder injury. Here is the Bulls’ press release.

During last night’s game against Dallas, Joakim Noah sustained a dislocation of the left shoulder which was reduced in the training room. Earlier today, he was evaluated at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush, where it was determined that he will undergo surgery to stabilize his left shoulder.

His recovery time is estimated at four to six months.

So basically, he’s pretty much out for the season. Unless the Bulls go deep in the playoffs. Like, say, the Eastern Conference Finals?

But it’s hard not to feel for the guy. Noah was replaced in the starting line-up because of health and spacing issues. This is also the guy that’s basically been the heart and soul for the Bulls for years. When healthy, we know what Noah can do on the defensive end. He won Defensive Player of the Year in the 2013-14 season.

Noah, who is averaging 4.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in about 22 minutes per game, was also apparently on the trading block. But now, nobody’s going to take him at this point. He’s also going to be a free agent at the end of the season. This may be it for him as a Chicago Bull. And it’s too bad that his tenure might end like this.

Let’s hope Noah and the Bulls can work it out. If not, some other team is going to have a very valuable defensive player in Noah next season.

Speedy recovery, Joakim.
