Welcome to the Basketball Hangover. I write about what’s happening in the WNBA daily as we try to heal from this pandemic.

The Chicago Sky snapped a 7-game losing streak after defeating the Indiana Fever at home. Having Candace Parker back definitely helped. Getting off to a great start helped, too.
The Sky went up by as many as 17 points in the first half but the Fever rallied in the third. Chicago went on a bit of a drought late in the third as Indiana scored 8 straight points. That was quickly washed away by the tandem backcourt of Allie Quigley and Courtney Vandersloot as they built that lead back from a small four points to a large 11. The Fever never got close again.
Five players scored in double figs for Chicago, led by Vandersloot with 17 points and 9 assists. Parker only scored four points in under 18 minutes of play but having her out there is a threat and they didn’t need a lot of her for this blowout win.
The Indiana Fever are 1-10 and can’t seem to get anything going. The Sky are 3-7 and have a lot of work to do to get back into elite company.
But at least, they got Candace back.
Bullet Passes
The other game wasn’t much of a contest, either, as the defending champs pulverized the Atlanta Dream. The Dream only scored 28 points in the second half.
Also, Tiffany Hayes was the only Dream player in double figures with 22 points.
It’s no surprise that Tina Charles is leading the league in scoring at 25.9 points per game. If she keeps up that pace, she would have the record for the highest scoring average in a season.
Right now, the all-time leader is Diana Taurasi at 25.3 points per game in 2006.
Taurasi also holds the record for most three-pointers made in a season at 121, also done in 2006. Marina Mabrey leads the league at 27.
Also, the WNBA has a 32-game season this year, rather than 34 in previous years and 36, which was agreed upon last year. Of course, the WNBA only had a 22-game season in 2020 due to the pandemic.

I feel like Stewart is in line for both MVP AND Defensive Player of the Year.
Everyone, please take care of yourselves during this pandemic. And that goes for everyone involved with the WNBA as well.
