Welcome to the Basketball Hangover. I write about what’s happening in the WNBA daily as we try to heal from this pandemic.

Well, that’s why they’re the champions, ladies.
The Seattle Storm dominated the fourth quarter as they had one of the more impressive comebacks against a Minnesota Lynx looking to scratch. The Storm were down by 19 at one point as Breanna Stewart struggled to get going. But it was the backcourt that saved then seized the say for Seattle.
Jewell Loyd kept the Storm afloat early and ended up leading all players with 23 points. Sue Bird went for 21 points and 8 dimes. And Jordin Canada was super aggressive, making 12 of her 16 points from the line. Veteran Candice Dupree also contributed 10 points. Stewart would finish with 13 herself.
As for the Lynx? They’ve been a perennial playoff team and this was their first 0-3 start since 2007. They continued to bring Crystal Dangerfield off the bench; she went for 22 points and 6 assists. Sylvia Fowles was dominant early; she finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds. But that fourth quarter was something. They led by 10 coming into the period and ended up losing by 12. Woof.
They’ll have a week to think about it as they once again match up with the Storm. Meanwhile, Seattle is 2-1 after three games. They split the first two with fellow title contender Las Vegas Aces. And they’ll have Dallas and Connecticut before landing in Minnesota for their game.
Just don’t forget how good Seattle is. They are the defending champs, after all.

This was the one that broke Minnesota’s back. Sue Bird runs it down, fakes the pass, and then gives the ball to Loyd for the go-ahead three.

That’s YOUR defending champions Seattle Storm.
Everyone, please take care of yourselves during this pandemic. And that goes for everyone involved with the WNBA as well.
