People LOVE Power Rankings in sports. It’s pretty stupid. So, of course, I have MY Stupid Power Rankings. I take 10 things from the NBA and (or not) in the past week and rank them accordingly. You don’t like them? Make your own rankings!
There have been some badass slams this week. But first…

1) Becky Hammon Coached the Spurs
This is important.
It is believed that Becky Hammon is the first woman to coach in an NBA regular season game. It happened after Gregg Popovich was tossed out last Wednesday against the Lakers. Hammon has been an assistant for the Spurs since 2014 and she’s definitely earned this spot. I hope that one day, this wouldn’t be huge news anymore and that we can all accept that women can do all the jobs the men can, especially in professional sports.

2) Stephen Curry Went For 62
For a while, social media was LOUD about Stephen Curry. It got to the point where his past accomplishments were suddenly pushed aside.
Well, Curry shut most of them up by scoring a career-best 62 points against who some consider to be the best point guard in the league in Damian Lillard. There is no doubt in my mind how great Curry is. I just wish some people would accept that, too. But apparently, not having an NBA Finals MVP award is an INDICTMENT to someone’s legacy.

3) John Collins Decided to Detonate
Good grief. Jarrett Allen got clocked here with this devastating power slam. Just watch.
Also, he wasn’t done as he got one more slam with the help of Trae Young.

4) DeMar DeRozan Throws It Down
First of all, great defensive play by Drew Eubanks. Then DeMar came back and stuffed the hell out of Montrezl Harrell, who wishes he could take those 10 seconds back.

5) The Bucks Make 29 Threes
The Bucks won by 47 points against the Miami Heat behind the strength of the three-pointer. In fact, TWENTY-NINE three-pointers. It’s a league record that somehow keeps getting broken seemingly every year and that is why it’s a bit lower on the list. That doesn’t make it any less impressive, though.

6) Tobias Harris Catches Bodies
Tobias Harris has always been a solid scorer but man, this dunk was MORE than just solid. This was ROCK solid.

10) The Parents Are Getting Involved
When parents of players start to get involved in the biz, it really doesn’t bode well for the team and the player involved. Whatever the player says, he won’t win. It’s either go with the team or the parent. Even if he says something like, “Well, he wants what’s best for me but I believe in what the team is doing,” it’s still going to be misconstrued as going against the parent.
It sucks to be in this situation. Hopefully, Marvin Bagley III and the Kings can move forward, one way or the other.
Everyone, please take care of yourselves during this pandemic. And that goes for everyone involved with the NBA as well.
