David Fizdale is no longer the head coach of the New York Knickerbockers.

So I talked about the Knicks’ woes earlier on Friday. AND I quote:
As for the Knicks? I suppose they can depend on the lottery (yet again) this season but somehow, you just feel they’re going to screw that up. David Fizdale is STILL the coach for this team but his ouster could be any minute now.
“Any minute now.”
33 minutes after that entry was published:
So who is next in line?
The Knicks are currently 4-18. Fizdale had just endured back-to-back losses of 44 and 37 points against Milwaukee and Denver, respectively (the Denver blowout happened on Thursday). We knew he was in trouble when President Steve Mills and General Manager Scott Perry did a press conference after the Knicks were blown out by the Cavaliers that sunk them to a 2-8 record at the time.
But let me reiterate here: the coach wasn’t the biggest problem with this disaster of a team. The roster is mismatched (they signed a lot of big guys in the summer in Taj Gibson, Julius Randle, Marcus Morris, AND Bobby Portis). Young guys that had potential like Kevin Knox and Allonzo Trier don’t show as much promise (whether it’s regression or not getting enough PT). And there’s no continuity as Frank Ntilikina (drafted in 2017) is the longest-tenured Knick there. When all is said and done, RJ Barrett might be the last man standing here two years from now.
The front office in Steve Mills and Scott Perry may not be in their gigs for much longer. Plus they have said some weird things in the last few months. They seemingly apologized for whiffing in the first few days of free agency (there was even a report that they didn’t bother to offer Kevin Durant a max deal because of his injury). Then they said on Media Day that the team they built was their plan all along. Yeah. They really built their roster with four power forward-types.
So yeah. It could be Red Auerbach that takes over the head coaching job but it doesn’t fix the underlying problems that the Knicks have. Also, James Dolan still has ownership of the Knicks. And we know HIS reputation.
Again, the Knicks look completely hopeless at the moment. Right now, they’re wishing they’re on How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. At least, in that scene, they were in the NBA Finals.
