It feels like nobody’s hand is safe in the NBA. The latest hand injury to occur is on the Brooklyn Nets‘ Caris LeVert. He hurt his right thumb in a game against Portland last Friday. He played through the game on Sunday against Phoenix but the pain was too much to play against Utah on Tuesday night.
So we have this from ESPN. Here’s an Adrian Wojnarowski report:
LeVert has battled injuries throughout his career, especially with that terrifying leg injury last season. He somehow only missed three months last season. Now he has to miss about a month of action with that thumb injury.
He’s scoring a career-best 16.8 points per game as well as grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 4 dimes per (also both career-bests). LeVert is regarded as a good defender but Brooklyn’s overall team defense has been awful, to say the least. The Nets are allowing 112.1 points per 100 possessions (which is 26th in the league). Per game, the Nets are letting opponents score an average of 121.4 points, which is second worst in the NBA. Not sure if the loss of LeVert will actually make the defense even worse but they’ll sure miss his scoring and versatility.
Iman Shumpert has been signed to fill in the gap LeVert left. Speedy recovery to LeVert.
