Last night, the Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets to go up, 3-1, in their first round series. Unfortunately, they lost Stephen Curry before the first half ended. Curry slipped on a wet spot that tweaked his right knee. He tried to come back before the second half before he went to the locker room to end his night.
Curry went to get an MRI this morning to see how his knee is. And this is the news that we got from the Warriors PR department:

So check the wording here: “re-evaluated in two weeks.” That doesn’t exactly mean he’s back in two weeks. But he could be.
Still, two weeks means the Warriors will likely be playing at the start of the second round so if he IS back in two weeks, he’ll miss maybe two or three games of the West Semifinals. That COULD be huge because, at this point, we’re not talking history for the 73-9 Warriors. We’re talking survival now. They could easily be down 2-1 IF Curry comes back.
And sure, Curry coming back would be nice. But are we going to get pre-injury Curry back for the playoffs? There’s a big chance he won’t be the guy we saw all season long. Knee injuries are funny that way. His presence could be enough to spur (ha ha!) the Warriors to the title but Curry was MVP (possibly, two-time MVP) for a reason.
We’ll see how this develops but, at this time, the title picture is a bit more muddled than it was before the playoffs started.
Injuries suck. Get better, Steph.
