Five games in the league as we get closer to the break!

THE GAMES
SAN ANTONIO SPURS 119 (44-8) @ MIAMI HEAT 101 (29-24)
It seemed like a feeling of doom as the Heat entered the game against the Spurs. And they were right; the depth eventually overwhelmed Miami as the game went on. Before they knew it, the Heat were down double digits in the third and the only excitement that went on in the second half was Hassan Whiteside elbowing Boban Marjanovic (which Whiteside got ejected for).
BEHIND THE LINES
LaMarcus Aldridge (SA): 28 pts.
Kawhi Leonard (SA): 23 pts, 9 rebs, 3 stls.
Dwyane Wade (MIA): 20 pts, 5 assts.
WASHINGTON WIZARDS 111 (23-27) @ NEW YORK KNICKS 108 (23-32)
John Wall and Bradley Beal tore it up for the Wizards. Wall’s late perimeter shooting got the Wiz above 10 inside two minutes. The Knicks mounted a run, however, as Carmelo Anthony and Langston Galloway fired away. New York got close enough to play the foul game and have a chance to tie. With no timeouts and four seconds left, New York had to go the full length of the court. Galloway got an open three but it bounced off the rim. No good.
However, Russell Wilson had some goodies with him.

BEHIND THE LINES
Marcin Gortat (WAS): 14 pts, 10 rebs.
Bradley Beal (WAS): 26 pts, 4 stls.
John Wall (WAS): 28 pts, 5 rebs, 17 assts.
Carmelo Anthony (NY): 33 pts, 13 rebs.
Kristaps Porzingis (NY): 20 pts, 5 rebs, 3 blks.
BOSTON CELTICS 111 (31-23) @ MILWAUKEE BUCKS 112 (21-32)
Greg Monroe came off the bench but he came out like a monster. Monroe had a big double-double to help the Bucks lead by 19 entering the fourth.
But it was a wild finish. Celtics came back and eventually tied it late with a Jae Crowder three. However, Monroe was able to get inside and make the go-ahead basket with one second left. Boston had a chance to tie or win it… and then Jerryd Bayless pushed Kelly Olynyk during a lob play. No time went off the clock and Olynyk tied the game at 111 with free throws.
So then the Bucks had a chance to win it. Avery Bradley got overzealous and reached in on Khris Middleton right after he got the pass with 0.6 seconds left. Middleton made the first foul shot and, since the Celtics had no timeouts left, missed the second free throw on purpose. The Bucks got away with the win against a hot Boston team.
BEHIND THE LINES
Khris Middleton (MIL): 20 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts.
Greg Monroe (MIL): 29 pts, 12 rebs.
Jae Crowder (BOS): 18 pts, 5 rebs.
Avery Bradley (BOS): 18 pts.
UTAH JAZZ 121 (26-25) @ DALLAS MAVERICKS 119 (29-26) (OT)
Dallas had this one.
They were in control for most of the game before Utah took the lead inside four minutes left. Still, the Jazz had to play the foul game just to get a chance to tie the game. They got the chance and Rodney Hood drained a three with a second left to send the game to overtime.
It was a back-and-forth affair in overtime. Handsome Chandler Parsons tied the game at 119 with a three. They both would not score for nearly two minutes and Parsons missed a handsome three with 24 seconds left. Twenty seconds later, the Jazz had one final possession in OT. Gordon Hayward got enough separation from Zaza Pachulia for a stepback jumper and since you see the green on Utah’s name, you know what happened.
BEHIND THE LINES
Rodney Hood (UTA): 29 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts.
Gordon Hayward (UTA): 20 pts, 5 rebs.
Rudy Gobert (UTA): 14 pts, 10 rebs.
Deron Williams (DAL): 23 pts, 5 assts.
Chandler Parsons (DAL): 24 pts.
HOUSTON ROCKETS 110 (27-27) @ GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 123 (47-4)
Stephen Curry was ready to blast the Rockets off, making all five three-pointers in the first quarter. The Rockets came back, though, as they survived the Warriors runs. But they couldn’t survive G. State’s run in the fourth as Harrison Barnes put in 17 of his 19 points in those 12 minutes.
Harrison Barnes. And this is why the Dubs are so unfair.
BEHIND THE LINES
Stephen Curry (GS): 35 pts, 5 rebs, 9 assts.
Andrew Bogut (GS): 13 pts, 11 rebs, 6 blks, 3 stls.
Dwight Howard (HOU): 16 pts, 15 rebs.
James Harden (HOU): 37 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts, 3 stls.
GETTING SOCIAL
A terrible and unnecessary foul by AB to hand the Bucks a W but this loss isn't on him. Can't be lazy for 3 quarters and expect to win.

THE TAKEAWAY
Seriously. Have you seen how YOLKED UP Gordon Hayward is these days?! That dude IS Captain America.
Think about this. The Warriors “only” have to go 26-5 to break the record for best record in NBA history. They are 47-4 at the moment. It’s so weird that they actually lost four times. Remember their losses?
1) @ MIL by 13. Second half of a back-to-back. They had a grueling double OT game against the Celtics the night before.
2) @ DAL by 23. No Stephen Curry. A drastically different team without him. They would beat Houston without Curry the next night, though.
3) @ DEN by 2. No Draymond Green but I felt this was a winnable game. Still, I always feel this is a random loss by most great teams because of the air. Klay Thompson nearly beat the Nuggets with a three-pointer at the buzzer after being down 11 with six minutes left.
4) @ DET by 18. No out here. I don’t know. The power of Ben Wallace? His jersey was retired at halftime of that game.
They do have the best start after 51 games. But one loss can easily break the rhythm. Winning 26 of 31 games for ANY team, no matter how good you are, is tough.
The Spurs may not get to 73 but they are close enough to still wrest away home court from the Warriors. It’s still amazing that the Spurs have a 44-8 record. If it weren’t for the Warriors, we would be talking about whether they would get to 70 wins. Not a record-breaker but 70 just seems like a magic number for any historic team out there.
Even with the loss, the Celtics are still holding on to the third seed. Meanwhile, we had no idea that the Utah Jazz had been winning silently. Everybody’s healthy now and they have won seven straight games. They leapfrogged over the Rockets for the seventh seed. And Portland is only a half-game behind the Rockets. The Jazz actually have one fewer loss than the Mavs but the Mavs have three more wins than Utah. And with Marc Gasol POSSIBLY missing the rest of the season, the bottom half of the West playoff picture could be very interesting. Do you REALLY want to go against the Spurs or the Warriors in the first round? Not that the Thunder aren’t excellent, either. I guess it’s a race for the fifth seed? Not that the Clippers AREN’T good but I feel they don’t get as much respect as the top three. So everyone would wanna match up with them. That’s just the reality of it.
One more thing, this Priceline ad that has David Robinson and LATRELL SPREWELL is HILARIOUS.

I cannot stop laughing at Latrell Sprewell making fun of himself in that ad.
