The Pelicans have had a rough year with injuries. And another one just hit them last night. Here’s Shams Charania of The Vertical:
New Orleans Pelicans forward Tyreke Evans is planning to undergo surgery on his right knee and is likely out for the remainder of the season, league sources told The Vertical.
Evans will visit specialists this week to finalize his surgery details, sources said.
Evans underwent arthroscopic surgery in the same knee in October and recently again experienced pain in the knee. The Pelicans announced on Sunday that Evans would rehab his knee until after the NBA All-Star break.
It’s definitely a loss for the Pelicans. They have been ravaged with injuries all season and it seemed like the Pelicans never got to play with a full deck. Evans offers versatility to New Orleans on both ends of the floor (though I’ll admit he feels like a misfit on the roster) so that’s what they’ll be missing for possibly the rest of the season.
Tyreke has played 25 games this season and has averages of 15.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. The Pelicans are currently 19-32 and 6.5 games behind the eighth-seeded Houston Rockets in the West.
