The New Orleans Pelicans have been ravaged with injuries. One forgotten name was Quincy Pondexter, who hasn’t played at all this season.
Don’t expect him to. Here’s a report from Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports:
New Orleans Pelicans forward Quincy Pondexter will undergo season-ending left knee surgery on Jan. 20 in New York, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Pondexter had yet to play this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in the offseason, with the team recently announcing a one-to-two week return timetable for him.
That’s a shame for Pondexter. We all know he’s a long-range specialist but he was also a very good perimeter defender. And the Pelicans sorely need what Pondexter brings on both sides.
Pondexter split time between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Pelicans last season, averaging 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting .373 from behind the arc (.449 with the Pelicans).
