2016 East Finals Hangover (Game 5): Love Found a Way to Destroy Raptors

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

EAST Finals – Game 5 – CAVALIERS lead series, 3-2

Well, wasn’t this a dump?

It was the same problems that plagued the Raptors in their losses. DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry couldn’t get it going. And with no one else helping, it became a car wreck. Or a destroyed village. Pillaged by the Cavaliers.

Kevin Love was invisible in Canada. This time around, everyone saw Love in all his glory. No, not all his glory as in he was naked because that would be illegal (to the dismay of some ladies out there… or men, if they like that sort of thing). But Love was posting up and making his threes. Tristan Thompson was on the boards while he was on the court and Kyrie Irving and LeBron James did their thing.

The Raptors were down by 10 before they knew it. And then it became 18 by quarter’s end. Toronto couldn’t get out of the grave the Cavs dug for them and the halftime lead was 31. It wasn’t a game for probably about 40 minute of that contest.

It’s really been about the home court for both teams. They look so different when they’re sleeping in their own beds and having the crowd support. I’m pretty much expecting the same thing to happen in Game 6 when the Raptors go back to the land of Gretzky and Shania.

But if the Cavs want that return trip to the Finals, they should get rid of the reeling Raptors while they can. Because while it’s been about home cooking the first five games, Game 7 could be a totally different monstrosity.

It’s back to Canada on Friday. Are the Raptors going to extend on the greatest season they ever had? Or are the Cavs going to make their third NBA Finals in the last decade?
