2016 West Finals Hangover (Game 4): Thunder Dominate and Are One Win Away From Finals

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

WEST Finals – Game 4 – THUNDER lead series, 3-1

What world are we in? We’re in a world where, suddenly, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are pretty damn close to ruling the NBA.

They and the Thunder are definitely ruling over the Warriors at the moment. They are one win away from dethroning the greatest regular season team of all-time, which is COMPLETELY different than the greatest team of all-time.

The game was pretty much all Thunder. Draymond Green‘s non-suspension didn’t make a dent. Stephen Curry was blanketed all over the place and couldn’t get anything going. Klay Thompson did have that run where he scored 19 straight points for the Warriors but it wasn’t enough because the ENTIRE Thunder team is playing way over their heads.

Suddenly, Andre Roberson has become a two-way threat. Steven Adams is that immovable big that the Warriors can’t solve. Dion Waiters is hitting big shots. Serge Ibaka can’t stop hitting threes. And, of course, Westbrook and Durant are being themselves.

Westbrook’s chaotic play has become chaos in the right way, leaving destruction on both sides of the floor while helping his teammates get to the right place for the right shot. And Durant has stepped up his defensive game. The Warriors have been rendered helpless by the Thunder’s frightening length, which has now become a factor after OKC has finally put together a defensive plan that can stop the champions.

No excuses for the Warriors. People want to point to Curry’s earlier knee injury but that’s not a factor now and it hasn’t been a factor since he came back against the Blazers. They’re just getting beat by a better team and we have to give credit to OKC. All of it.

Draymond Green may not have been suspended by the league for a night. But OKC is ready to suspend the Warriors for the next five months if G. State is not careful in Game 5.

BEHIND THE LINES
Kevin Durant (OKC): 26 pts, 11 rebs, 3 blks, 4 stls.
Russell Westbrook (OKC): 36 pts, 11 rebs, 11 assts, 4 stls.
Andre Roberson (OKC): 17 pts, 12 rebs, 5 stls.
Klay Thompson (GS): 26 pts, 5 rebs, 3 stls.

Game 5 is on Thursday. It could be the end of a disappointing road for the Warriors… and could also be a triumphant return to the Finals for Oklahoma City.
