2016 West Finals Hangover (Game 2): Curry Flurry Destroys Thunder

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

WEST Finals – Game 2 – Series is TIED, 1-1

So the Warriors got off to their usual quick start. Stephen Curry made some threes early, which was unlike Game 1.

But it was all about Kevin Durant in the second quarter as he went for 16 points in that period. A Dion Waiters corner three gave OKC their first lead of the game, 47-46.

Then Andre Iguodala spearheaded a half-closing 11-2 run, including a dazzling no-look lay-up. And you know how much I love no-look stuff in basketball.

In the third quarter, the MVP had enough. Curry went on a sublime 15-2 personal run in less than two minutes. Every shot was a showstopper and the Thunder were buried before they even knew it. Durant and a quiet Russell Westbrook only put up three shots in the third quarter and the rout was on.

The Warriors would go on to win by 27 points and it seems like all is right in the world. Except for OKC’s world, who would rather live in an alternate reality at the moment where Lavos never existed in Chrono Trigger.

Of course, I wouldn’t wanna live in an alternate reality where there are no corgis.

BEHIND THE LINES
Stephen Curry (GS): 28 pts.
Kevin Durant (OKC): 29 pts, 6 rebs, 8 TOS.
Russell Westbrook (OKC): 16 pts, 12 assts.

The good news for the Thunder is that they’re going back to Oklahoma City with the series tied. So, at least, they still have the home court blanket. In this case, a two-point loss and a 27-point loss are the same; both count as just one loss.
