Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard Wins Defensive Player of the Year Award For Second Straight Season

For the second straight season, Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs has won the Defensive Player of the Year award.

And, really, it’s tough to question that. Sure, there are other great defensive players like Draymond Green (who also flies all over the court), Hassan Whiteside (who blocks shots as much as I block people on Twitter), and DeAndre Jordan (a bonafide rim protector) But Leonard was voted the winner for a reason. People would avoid passing the ball to his area. He’s a dead end, a roadblock, and a brick wall. Kawhi helped the Spurs become the #1 defensive team in the NBA. Of course, we also know that this has become the Spurs’ greatest regular season in history (67-15 record).

Here’s the top five votegetters of this award.

I imagine this is how it feels like to be defended by Kawhi Leonard and his big mitts.
