The Hangover: Curry Sinks Magic With 51 Points and 10 Three-Pointers

This is the Hangover. We get basketball-wasted all the time. Yes, we recap the NBA every night in our own way.

A bit busier than usual on Thursday. Six games were played.

THE GAMES

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 130 (52-5) @ ORLANDO MAGIC 114 (25-31)

No matter how many times he does it, it’s always amazing. For the third time THIS SEASON, Stephen Curry exploded for over 50 points. He went for 51-7-8 and made 10 three-pointers. At this point, the only way you can stop Curry is by locking in the freezer for the next few months.

BEHIND THE LINES
Stephen Curry (GS): 51 pts (10/15 3FG), 7 rebs, 8 assts.
Draymond Green (GS): 12 pts, 8 assts, 5 stls.
Evan Fournier (ORL): 20 pts.

MILWAUKEE BUCKS 107 (24-34) @ BOSTON CELTICS 112 (34-25)

Celtics held on to the victory after a bit of a rally by the Bucks. The Celtics continue to impress while the Bucks continue to baffle. I didn’t think either team would go any direction after barely making the postseason last year but here they are moving in opposite ways.

BEHIND THE LINES
Isaiah Thomas (BOS): 27 pts, 7 assts.
Jared Sullinger (BOS): 14 pts, 10 rebs.
Jae Crowder (BOS): 20 pts, 8 rebs.
Greg Monroe (MIL): 20 pts, 8 rebs.
Khris Middleton (MIL): 21 pts, 5 rebs, 6 assts, 3 stls.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 119 (41-17) @ NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 123 (23-34)

The Pelicans took control in the fourth quarter before the dastardly duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook tried to rescue their team out of the fire pit. But it was too little, too late. New Orleans had a 10-point lead late that was just too big to overcome. Pelicans somehow get up for these Thunderous boys, don’t they?

BEHIND THE LINES
Anthony Davis (NO) 30 pts, 6 rebs, 4 blks.
Jrue Holiday (NO): 22 pts, 9 assts.
Ryan Anderson (NO): 26 pts, 6 rebs.
Kevin Durant (OKC): 32 pts, 14 rebs, 7 assts.
Russell Westbrook (OKC): 44 pts, 9 assts.

BROOKLYN NETS 116 (16-42) @ PHOENIX SUNS 106 (14-44)

This game is in “My Date Got Cancelled and I’m Sad So I’ll Watch This” territory.

Brooklyn led for most of the game in double digits. You were probably better off watching Dirty Dancing for the 34th time.

BEHIND THE LINES
Bojan Bogdanovic (BRK): 24 pts.
Thaddeus Young (BRK): 18 pts, 7 stls.
Mirza Teletovic (PHX): 30 pts, 11 rebs.
Tyson Chandler (PHX): 12 pts, 11 rebs.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS 96 (49-9) @ UTAH JAZZ 78 (28-29)

The first half was resembling more of a ’90s NBA game, which is romanticized as one of the best eras in the NBA when it was really more of a football game and scores that ended in 70-80.

Anyway, the Spurs ran away in the fourth quarter as they rained threes on the Jazz.

BEHIND THE LINES
Kawhi Leonard (SA): 29 pts, 5 rebs, 3 stls.
Tim Duncan (SA): 14 pts, 11 rebs.
Derrick Favors (UTA): 25 pts, 6 rebs.

HOUSTON ROCKETS 119 (29-29) @ PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS 105 (30-28)

So we know that these two teams are going on opposite directions but somehow, the bizarro scenario happened. The Blazers were leading by 21 before James Harden led the Rockets back. AFTER I KILLED THEM WITH THEIR BODY LANGUAGE.

Spring 2015 Rockets turned up against the Blazers. “Turned up” is the cool thing to say, right?

BEHIND THE LINES
Trevor Ariza (HOU): 6 pts, 8 rebs, 6 assts, 5 stls.
Dwight Howard (HOU): 19 pts, 13 rebs.
James Harden (HOU): 46 pts, 5 rebs, 8 assts.
Damian Lillard (POR): 23 pts, 6 rebs, 7 assts.
C.J. McCollum (POR): 20 pts, 5 rebs.
